At Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph, we have always offered our patients the very latest in pediatric dental procedures and techniques to treat tooth decay. That’s why we only provide composite (white or tooth colored) fillings to patients requiring a dental filing.
Tooth decay needs to be treated, otherwise it can lead to infection, pain or in some cases, tooth loss. Our pediatric dentists can treat your child’s cavities using tooth colored or composite fillings, to retain the teeth’s function and appearance. What are Composite Fillings?
These fillings have the same color as the tooth, so it looks natural and attractive. Composite fillings have several advantages over silver and amalgam fillings. To start with, composite resin is not made of metal, so it’s easier to blend and mix shades to match the color of the patient’s teeth. Secondly, composite fillings can support the remaining healthy tooth structure to prevent further damage. The composite resin makes it possible to keep more of the natural tooth structure intact, which is something that amalgam fillings are unable to do. With proper care, composite fillings can last for up to 10 years.
