Emergency Care

In the event of any dental emergency, do not hesitate to call our office. Our commitment to your child’s oral care in the event of an emergency is paramount. Even after hours one of our pediatric dentists will respond to your call.

Use the following first aid tips in emergencies until you can be seen in our office:

  • Knocked-Out Tooth – Without touching the root, hold up the tooth by the crown and rinse well. If you can, replace the tooth in its socket, otherwise put it in a cup of water or milk and call the office immediately.

  • Loose Tooth or Misaligned Tooth – Carefully and slowly, try to see if you can re-position the tooth.

  • Chipped – If the chipped tooth is not painful, call our office during normal operating ours. One of our pediatric dentists will likely fill the chip with a composite material, or simply file the tooth until it is smooth. Until your child can be seen they should be careful when chewing so that the situation does not get worse.

  • Cracked and Fractured teeth – Immediately have your child rinse their mouth carefully with warm water as this increases the possibility of saving your tooth. Next, you can reduce any swelling by applying a cold compress and taking a painkiller (acetaminophen).
